Business casual outfits for women

Back to the office, without the ironing. These are the JudyP tops that do business casual best: smooth knits with a clean neckline that look finished on their own, sit flat under a jacket and come out of the wash ready to wear. Every piece is made in the USA in our microfiber and spandex knit, and we only show the colors and sizes we have on the shelf today. Want the rules first? Business casual in three rules

01
One tailored piece
A trouser with a crease, a structured jacket or a proper skirt. That one piece is what makes an outfit read as work.
02
Smooth and solid
A clean knit in a solid color looks more polished than a busy print or a slubby tee, even when the cut is simple.
03
Fit over formality
A top that skims and sits right at the shoulder looks more professional than a blouse that pulls or gapes.

A week of office outfits

Five days, five tops. Wear each one with tailored trousers or a knee-length skirt you already own, and a loafer, flat or low heel.

Monday

The safe start

A navy relaxed V-neck with black trousers and loafers. Nothing to think about, nothing that can go wrong.

Tuesday

The meeting day

A white shell under a navy jacket with grey trousers. Take the jacket off after the meeting and the shell still looks finished.

Wednesday

The long day

A black tunic over slim black trousers and pointed flats. One long line that looks as sharp at 6pm as at 9am.

Thursday

A little warmth

A pearl V-neck with camel or navy trousers. Softer than white, and it brightens a face under office lights.

Friday

The step down

A black boatneck with dark jeans, if your office allows them, and ankle boots. The neckline keeps it polished.

Office questions, answered

What tops are business casual for women?

Solid knit tops with a defined neckline, such as a V-neck, boatneck or jewel neck, in a smooth fabric that holds its shape. Three-quarter sleeves are the easiest choice because they look finished alone and fit under a jacket. Sleeveless shells work under a blazer or cardigan.

How many tops do I need for a work week?

Five or six is plenty if they share a palette. Two neutrals that go with every trouser you own, a shell for jacket days, a longer tunic for long days, and one or two in a color you love.

Can a knit top look professional?

Yes, if the knit is smooth, opaque and sits right at the shoulder. A well-cut knit looks as polished as a blouse and does not need ironing, which is why it works so well for the office and for work travel.

What colors work best for the office?

Navy, black, white and pearl go with every trouser and jacket. Add one color you love for the days you want a lift, and wear it with a neutral bottom so the outfit stays polished.

How do I care for JudyP tops?

Machine wash and hang or tumble dry low. The microfiber and spandex knit comes out smooth, so there is nothing to iron before work.
