The Layering Edit

Five women on a mountain deck, each wearing a JudyP top layered under a jersey, a flannel shirt, a quilted vest and a ski jacket
Five women. Five different outer layers. The same top underneath every one.
The Layering Edit

Thin enough to layer.
Finished enough to stand alone.

Most base layers look like base layers. This one goes under a jersey, a flannel, a vest or a ski jacket without adding bulk — and when the outer layer comes off, it is the top you meant to be wearing.

One top, four ways

It is a base layer that does not look like one. Thin enough to go under anything, finished enough to wear on its own when the jacket comes off.

Why it layers

The reason one top covers all four is the yarn, not the cut. Four things are true of every style on this page.

Moisture-wicking
It pulls moisture off the skin instead of holding it, which is what lets it be the layer that touches you all day — under a jersey in the sun, under a ski jacket on the lift, and still fresh when the outer layer comes off.
Wrinkle-free, spun in
Most wrinkle resistance is a coating on the surface that washes off. Ours is in the fiber, so it is still there after every wash. Fold it into a bag, pull it out, wear it.
Light, and luxurious
Fine-gauge microfiber and spandex with a hand you notice the moment you pick it up. Almost no weight, no seam bulk, nothing to bunch at the shoulder when a sleeve goes over it — and it still reads as a real top, not a thermal.
UPF 50, knitted in
Not a finish that washes out. Four hours on a course, a ridgeline or a sideline and it is still protecting, and still holding its color.
And made in the USA

Cut and sewn here, XS–3X across the line. It is the reason the fabric is what it is — we buy the yarn, not a finished garment.

Five ways to style it

The same top in five different outfits. Nothing here needs anything you do not already own — the jacket, the jersey and the jeans are yours; we supply the layer underneath.

Game day
Jersey over red
Juliet in Red under the jersey, straight-leg jeans, a boot with a low heel. The sleeve length is the whole trick — the jersey stops at the elbow, you don't.
Fall Saturday
Ivory under plaid
Deborah in White under an open plaid shirt, belted jeans. A clean neutral under a busy pattern is the oldest rule there is, and it still works.
Trail to lunch
Warm tone under a vest
A Stephanie tank in Terracotta under a quilted vest, slim black pant. Sleeveless under a vest keeps the arms free; the tank reads as the outfit once the vest is off.
Ski day
Bright under a shell
Cerulean under the shell, ski pant. Bright is deliberate — it is the layer people actually see at lunch, and on a lift line it reads from a distance.
Monday
Black under a blazer
Jackie turtleneck in Black under a blazer, wide-leg trouser. A turtleneck under a jacket is the fastest way to look finished without a blouse.

Three rules that make layering work

Pick up the second color
Most team palettes have a primary and a secondary. Wearing the secondary underneath — white under red, cerulean under navy — reads sharper than matching the jersey exactly.
Go lighter underneath
Under a dark jacket, a lighter top opens the neckline and keeps the whole thing from going flat. Reverse it under a pale shell.
Let sleeve lengths differ
Long sleeve under a short-sleeve jersey, three-quarter under a rolled shirt. The contrast is what makes it look intentional rather than cold.

On the course and the court

The sleeveless styles are the ones for a hot afternoon outside — no sleeve to catch on a swing, and the same fabric behind them.

Found the fit? Pick a color.

29 colors across the sleeveless three. Where a size has gone, the tile says so. Most of you buy the same style twice in two colors.
