Every JudyP color has a story. Judy herself reveals the process behind choosing Spring's most beloved shades — and why the right name matters as much as the color itself.
How do you choose your seasonal colors?
“Throughout the year I go through Vogue, InStyle, and W — ripping out pages with colors that feel appealing. Over time I see which colors keep reoccurring. Those are the ones consumers are being exposed to everywhere — on TV, online, in magazines — and they’ll feel comfortable and confident in them.”
How do you name them?
“I think a unique, relevant name gives a color an identity of its own. I look through books, I surf the internet — and eventually something just pops out. That’s how Razzmatazz, Mazarine, Bougainvillea, and Harlequin were born.”
What makes a great Spring palette?
“The best Spring colors are ones that everyone can wear and feel good in. Clean, bright colors like Turquoise and Coral are universally flattering. Periwinkle is a fashion favorite that stands the test of time. And a soft pastel — something like Yellow Jasper — is comforting and feminine in a way that brighter colors aren’t.”
