UPF 50 Clothing: The Sun Protection You’re Probably Missing

You reapply sunscreen on your arms, your chest, the back of your neck — and then you spend the afternoon forgetting to do it again. Everyone does. It's the gap in every summer routine: sunscreen works beautifully, right up until it sweats off, washes off, or you simply lose track of the two-hour clock. There's a quieter kind of protection that never asks you to remember it, and most women don't know they're missing it. It's built into what you wear.

What UPF actually means

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor — the clothing equivalent of SPF. A UPF 50 fabric blocks about 98% of the sun's UV rays from reaching your skin. Unlike lotion, it doesn't need reapplying, doesn't rub off on your collar, and doesn't stop working when you get warm. As long as you're wearing it, it's working.

The catch is that not all clothing offers meaningful protection. A thin, loosely woven summer top can let a surprising amount of UV through. Real sun protection comes from fabric that's engineered for it.

Why ours is built in, not sprayed on

Some brands add a sun-protective coating that fades after a few dozen washes. Ours is different: the UPF 50 is woven into the fabric itself, so it doesn't wash out over a season of wear. The top you buy in June is protecting you just as well in September.

That matters most exactly where you're most exposed — a boat deck, a walking tour, a long lunch on a sunny patio, a round of errands. Your shoulders, upper back, and chest are covered without a thought, which frees you to focus the sunscreen on the places clothing can't reach.

Protection that doesn't feel like protection

The reason people skip sun-protective clothing is an old assumption that it's heavy, technical, or unattractive — something for a hiking catalog. Ours isn't. It's the same wrinkle-free microfiber we're known for: light, soft, drapes beautifully, and packs flat for travel. A sleeveless shell or a V-neck tank that happens to shield you from 98% of UV is still, first and foremost, a top you'd want to wear anyway.

Made in the USA, in sizes XS–3X, cut for real bodies at every age. Sun protection you'll actually keep on because it looks and feels like the rest of your wardrobe.

This summer, let your clothes carry some of the load. Your future skin will thank you — and you'll have one less thing to remember.
